Join Our Team as an Automation & Controls Engineer - Food & Beverage in Chicago!

Are you passionate about designing innovative automation solutions that power the food and beverage industry? We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automation & Controls Engineer to lead the development, integration, and startup of control systems on exciting projects across the food, consumer products, and pharmaceutical sectors. Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within EPC projects and automation controls
  • Expertise in PLC and HMI programming, with experience across Rockwell, Siemens, and other PLC platforms
  • Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design, ANSI and IEEE standards
  • Skilled in developing control system design deliverables, including I/O lists, control narratives, electrical and control panel design
  • Familiarity with process instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, flow, analyzers, and control valves
  • Proven project leadership, team collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% for site surveys, installation support, and startup activities
Nice to Have Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with SCADA systems, MES design, and industrial cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of safety and process standards such as ISA/IEC 61511, ISO13849
  • Familiarity with tools like PlantPAX, PackML, SISTEMA, and Ignition Software
  • Background in process safety, SIF/SIS design, and risk assessments
Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience, especially within EPC or automation projects
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale automation design and execution
Other Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Willingness to travel as needed for site visits and project support
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to project challenges
